GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper, or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.1) Draw a rectangle that will define the conditional proportions and boundaries of the chosen drawing. 2) From the middle of the rectangle, draw one vertical and one horizontal line equally dividing the shape. 3) Draw another horizontal line equally dividing the upper half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a horizontal line equally dividing the bottom half of the rectangle. 4) Draw a vertical line equally dividing the left half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a vertical line equally dividing the right half of the rectangle.

STEP 1. Mark off the width and height of the picture, and the main proportions of the boot. Draw a centre line.

STEP 2. Outline the general shape of the boot. Add guidelines for the sole. Draw a circle to indicate the spurs.

STEP 3. Draw the heel in detail. Inside the spurs, draw two circles, one inside the other. Within the circles, show rivets. Add guidelines for the upper part of the boot.

STEP 4. Draw more lines to indicate the spur straps, the shape of the sole, and shaft details. Outline the upper part of the boot.

STEP 5. Draw the spurs carefully. Detail the upper part of the boot. Draw in detail the pattern on the toe box.

STEP 6. Draw the shape of the spur. Add more details.

STEP 7. Work on the whole figure, paying special attention to the details.

STEP 8. Contour the boot, trying to vary the thickness and darkness of the line. Draw the details carefully and add the ground. Erase all the guidelines.
