step-1
GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.
1) Draw a rectangle that will define the conditional proportions and boundaries of the chosen drawing. 2) From the middle of the rectangle, draw one vertical and one horizontal line equally dividing the shape. 3) Draw another horizontal line equally dividing the upper half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a horizontal line equally dividing the bottom half of the rectangle. 4) Draw a vertical line equally dividing the left half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a vertical line equally dividing the right half of the rectangle.
step-2
STEP 1. Mark off the width and height of the picture. Draw two ovals, which will become the head and body of the retriever puppy. Define the shape of the head and shoulders.
step-3
STEP 2. Add lines for the body shape and a snout with an open mouth. Draw a new guideline for the body.
step-4
STEP 3. With smooth lines, delineate a neck. Draw guidelines for the legs.
step-5
STEP 4. Outline the shapes of the legs.
step-6
STEP 5. Draw a tail and the foreleg that the puppy is sitting on. Define the shape of the face.
step-7
STEP 6. Add toes, ears and eyes. Mark, with a semicircle, the shape of the mouth.
step-8
STEP 7. Work on the whole figure, paying attention to details.
step-9
STEP 8. Contour the golden retriever puppy, trying to vary the thickness and blackness of the line. Draw more details and the ground. Erase all guidelines.
