Geese of Mathurin Board Game

Geese of Mathurin Board Game

Rules of the game : This game must be played by two partners who take one the checkerboard and the red pawns, the other the checkerboard and the yellow pawns. The pawns represent the geese of Mathurin and the checkerboards the enclosures from which the players must bring them out. The object of the game is to arrive, by combinations similar to those of the checkers game, to arrange his pawns in such a way and to take them in such a way that the player can, in the fewest possible moves, clear his checkerboard. Each of the players places their eleven pawns on eleven squares of the corresponding color. The twelfth space must remain free for the evolution of these pawns. The one designated by fate to start the game moves a pawn from his checkerboard or takes one; the opponent does the same, and so on in turn until one of the players has completely cleared his enclosure – represented by the checkerboard – of the eleven geese which were enclosed there. Whoever gets this result first is the winner. Pawns can move forwards and backwards, but only on colored squares and diagonally.
