How to draw a scarecrow
How to draw a scarecrow
step-1
GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.
1) Draw the upper border for the figure. 2) From the upper border, moving downward, tentatively determine the position of the head and draw an oval to represent its conditional size. 3) Draw a vertical line through the middle of the head. This will be the central vertical line of the figure. 4) From the upper boundary of the figure, draw five equivalent segments. The last segment will act as the lower boundary of the figure. Through the boundaries of the segments, draw horizontal lines. 5) From the central vertical line of the figure, measure and draw: • One segment of equal head width – to the left of the line. • One segment of one-third head width – to the left of the line. • Two segments of equal head width – to the right of the line. Through the boundary of each segment, draw vertical lines. The extreme left and right segments will act as the vertical boundaries of the figure.
step-2
STEP 1. Mark off the width and height of the picture. Draw an oval for the head of the scarecrow. Add guidelines for its body.
step-3
STEP 2. Draw the shape of the body and pumpkin. Define the place for eyes of the scarecrow.
step-4
STEP 3. Use guidelines to define places for the scarecrow’s legs, arms and hat brim.
step-5
STEP 4. Sketch the legs, hat eyes and arms of the scarecrow.
step-6
STEP 5. Continue working on the clothes of the figure. Add some straw that sticks out from the trouser-legs and sleeves. Draw guidelines for the mouth.
step-7
STEP 6. Draw the mouth, pocket and collar of the shirt. Finish with the shape of the straw and eyes.
step-8
STEP 7. Work on the figure, paying special attention to detail.
step-9
STEP 8. Contour the scarecrow, trying to vary the thickness and darkness of the line. Add more detail and add the ground. Erase all guidelines.
