How to draw a Pelican
How to draw a Pelican
step-1
GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.
1) Draw a rectangle that will define the conditional proportions and boundaries of the chosen drawing. 2) From the middle of the rectangle, draw one vertical and one horizontal line equally dividing the shape. 3) Draw another horizontal line equally dividing the upper half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a horizontal line equally dividing the bottom half of the rectangle. 4) Draw a vertical line equally dividing the left half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a vertical line equally dividing the right half of the rectangle.
step-2
STEP 1. Mark off the width and height of the picture. Draw two ovals for the pelican’s head and its body. Draw a line for a beak.
step-3
STEP 2. With smooth lines, add the shape of the neck and a guideline for the tail.
step-4
STEP 3. Define the place for an eye with a line. Add guidelines for the pelican’s legs and the neck.
step-5
STEP 4. Outline the legs and the upper beak.
step-6
STEP 5. Draw the rear part of the body, the pelican’s tail, toes and its lower beak. Define a shape of its wing.
step-7
STEP 6. With additional lines, illustrate the feet and the beak of the pelican. Define the places for the eye and wing covers.
step-8
STEP 7. Draw claws, flight feathers and tail feathers.
step-9
STEP 8. Contour the pelican, trying to vary the thickness and blackness of the line. Add more details and the ground. Erase all guidelines.
