How to draw The Starry Night by Van Gogh

GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.
1) Draw a vertical rectangle that will define the conditional proportions and boundaries of the chosen drawing. 2) From the upper boundary of the rectangle draw two vertical lines that will divide the rectangle by 3 equal parts. 3) From the middle of the right boundary of the rectangle, draw one horizontal line equally dividing the shape. 4) Draw a horizontal line equally dividing the upper half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a horizontal line equally dividing the bottom half of the rectangle.

STEP 1. First, draw the auxiliary lines.

STEP 2. Outline the silhouette of the cypress tree. Draw the horizon line.

STEP 3. Improve the shape of the cypress. Draw line and a swirling stripe at the back.

STEP 4. Draw a building at the back. Add stripes to the inside of the cypress tree. Draw waves in the sky.

STEP 5. Add shapes in the sky. Draw the houses.

STEP 6. Finish the cypress. Draw some stripes on the background. Sketch the trees. Erase excess auxiliary lines.

STEP 7. Work on the background. Draw windows and stripes on the roofs.

STEP 8. Add meek dashes and shapes to the background.

STEP 9. Check that there are no extra lines in the drawing. Contour picture, trying to vary the thickness and darkness of the line.

STEP 10. Colour in the picture and bring it to life. Enjoy your drawing!
