How to draw Christina’s World by Andrew Wyeth
How to draw Christina’s World by Andrew Wyeth
step-1
GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.
• Locate the head in advance and draw its approximate size using an oval. • Draw 2 horizontal lines: -1 line above the head; -1 line under the head. • Draw 3 more lines down at the same distance plus 1 edge line 1/3 closer. • At the top, draw the top-most line at a distance equal to 1/3 of the height of the head. • Draw 6 lines to the left at a distance equal to the width of the head and 1 line half as close. • Add 1 line to the right at a distance equal to the width of the head and 1 line half as close. The left and rightmost lines are the vertical boundaries of your drawing.
step-2
STEP 1. Sketch auxiliary shapes and lines for the torsos. Extend the line from the torso to the lower part of the body.
step-3
STEP 2. Sketch your hands and arms. Draw two lines from the bottom oval and draw feet.
step-4
STEP 3. Start making the girl's silhouette more defined. Draw the neck and body parts from it. Erase any unnecessary lines.
step-5
STEP 4. Separate the head from the neck for the collar. Circle mark where the girl's hair will be placed. Sketch the sleeve part. Sketch the bottom of the dress and shoes.
step-6
STEP 5. Outline the girl's hair. Draw the elements of arms and legs. Divide the dress into two parts. Remove all unnecessary lines.
step-7
STEP 6. Add pleats to the garment. Finish with fingers and shoes. Sketch the front strand and add definition to the bundle.
step-8
STEP 7. Draw the grass and the hairs.
step-9
STEP 8. Check that there are no extra lines in the drawing. Contour girl, trying to vary the thickness and darkness of the line.
step-10
STEP 9. Colour in the picture and bring it to life. Enjoy your drawing!
