Belagrings Board Game 1896

Belagrings Board Game 1896

GAME RULES PART 1 Two blue tiles (besieged) defend the fortress, while twenty-four yellow ones attack the same. The two besieged are placed inside the fortress, i.e. on one of the nine points within the topmost quadrangle. The twenty-four attackers are placed at the twenty-four points allocated for them outside the fortress area. The attackers shall drive the two defenders out of the fortress and occupy the nine points within it, and the attackers shall not win until all these nine points have been occupied. On the other hand, the besieged win, if only one of them remains within the fortress. PART2 The game is drawn if the besieged have gone out of the fortress and cannot re-enter, or if the attackers are unable to occupy the fortress completely. The game goes like this: The besieged, i.e. the two blue pieces, may move both inside and outside the fortress, forwards, backwards and sideways on the red and blue lines. They must kill an attacker, i.e. remove a yellow tile from the battlefield by jumping over it, as soon as a point behind the yellow tile is unoccupied. PART3 Several yellow tiles may also be killed at once, if an unoccupied point is found behind them in line, at an angle (if so agreed) or in a zig-zag. The attackers may not kill, nor go back; they may only move forward or sideways on the red lines -- not on the blue. But if a blue tile should overlook the opportunity of killing a yellow, the latter has the right to remove the former from the game, which would be a serious loss to the besieged, as they consist of only two tiles.
