How to draw The Nude Maja by Francisco de Goya

GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.
• Locate the head in advance and draw its approximate size using an ovals. • Draw 1 horizontal line above the head. Above it, draw 1 line equal to half the height of the head. • Draw 1 horizontal line under the head. Below it, add 3 more lines equal to the height of the head plus 1 line equal to half the height of the head. • On the left and right sides of the head, draw a vertical line. Draw from them to the sides: -on the left, 7 lines equal to the width of the head; -on the right, 1 line equal to the width of the head plus one line equal to half the width of the head.

STEP 1. Draw auxiliary lines and shapes. This will be the girl's body.

STEP 2. Mark out the girl's arms and legs. Add circles where the shoulders and knees are.

STEP 3. Mark the outline of the bed. Separate the face with lines. Sketch the silhouette of the torso. Add palms and feet. Erase excess fmgures and lines.

STEP 4. Draw a clear line of arms and legs. Draw the girl's eyes. Erase the auxiliary lines.

STEP 5. Add bedding. Sketch the shape of the breasts. Mark the face.

STEP 6. Draw curly hair. Add body folds and toes. Work on cushions and bedding.

STEP 7. Add detail to the drawing. Draw hairs. Add nipples to the breasts. Finish the bedding.

STEP 8. Check that there are no extra lines in the drawing. Contour girl, trying to vary the thickness and darkness of the line.

STEP 9. Colour in the picture and bring it to life. Enjoy your drawing.
